How to move "Deleted Items" and "Recover Deleted Items" for all mailbox users to a seperate email account for review?
Hello,I am not sure how to do this or if its even possible but management has asked that I find a way to move "Deleted Items" and "Recover Deleted Items" for all mailbox users to a separate email account say HRreview@company.com for review by them at a later time. The HRreview@company.comaccount would be setup on a separate Storage Group and Mail Store to never delete messages which is the easy part of the project. The hard part of course is how to program via PowerShell Scripting or VB a way that I can get thoseDeleted and Recover Deleted messages from every users mailbox and move them into this account without duplicates.Anyone have any ideas on how to do this or know a company thathas the ability to program this for me.Thanks,Capt. This sounds like a pointy-haired boss request and I can't think of any way to do it. Sounds like your company really needs an archive product or service that captures all inbound and outbound mail, so it doesn't matter who deletes what. I would have to agree with Lanwench. Someone in HR has WAY too much time on their hands. :-) This sounds like their logic is "if a user deletes something, then it issuspicious". You could set up a really kludgy way to do this with ExMerge. Lots of manual work, though. You could ExMerge all of the user's Deleted Items, the merge that in to a another mailbox. E2K10 *might* let you do discovery on the user's Deleted Items cache, but I'm not positive. Bottom line, they should fund an archive system for you.Jim McBee - Blog - http://mostlyexchange.blogspot.com

Jim,Thanks for the info. Whdn you talk about "E2K10" I am assuming you are talking about Exchange 10 which is not out yet. Let em know if that is what you mean. I am sorry I am not sure what that term means.CaptCapt

Hi, I agree with Jim that you could use Exmerge to export the Deleted Items and Dumpster into PST files. Nevertheless, I think it is hard to import the PSTs into one mailbox. It is because the Exmerge tool require the PST name same as destination mailbox name. To export mailbox by using exmerge, you could select: Under Data tab, select User messages and folders, Items from Dumpster Under Folder tab, you could select Deleted Items only Mike Shen TechNet Subscriber Support in forum If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com

Shen,Does it have to be exported to a PST file.We do not use PST files on our Exchange system as we keep everything in Exchange on the Exchange server. Capt.Capt

Hi, For Exchange 2003, if you would like to extract couple of mailboxes information, we need to use Exmerge tool. The Exmerge.exe actually copies data from the source server into personal folder (PST) files and then merges the data in the personal folders into the mailboxes on the destination. For your reference: Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Merge program (Exmerge.exe) informationhttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/174197/en-usThanks,Mike
